Depends on the deal. If you can get a good starting OFer like Ethier, you should do it. Our outfield is non-existent, we could use 3 new guys. Bullpens are always changing. Unless you have a standout bullpen pitcher, they are very replaceable.
Parnell is good and I don't mind if we keep him but he is not a key piece.
I don't think we'll get much for Parnell. He's been to inconsistent. I'll refer to the Matt Capps for Wilson Ramos trade though, and mention that anything is possible.

Parnell is arbitration eligible. He's going to start getting paid, and he's 28 years old. It's actually a pretty nice time to deal him, and he still throws very hard.
Parnell is a guy you trade at the deadline to desperate teams seeking bullpen help. Depending on the market and Parnell's level of play by the deadline, we could get a nice prospect back, strictly from precedent.
Maybe. Probably.
Then again, he's probably getting around what everyone around here thought we should pay Dickey. If the Dickey trade fell through, we would have paid him.
Maybe if a deal like Ethier falls into your lap, you stretch the budget a year earlier. His real extra cost is the difference between his salary and what Parnell would get in arbitration.
I like Ethier better than Justin Upton.
Make them pay!
Wow. Parnell has a -5.55 WPA for his career. That blows. Get rid of him.
