I'm gonna say the Giants have the best rotation in the MLB for 2013. They won the World Series and that just puts them over the top.

    They won the title.

That's like saying David Price is better than Justin Verlander because he won the Cy Young this year, except more ridiculous since the playoffs are a short tournament rather than a large sample size like the regular season.

It's not just last years playoffs. It's essentially the last 2-3 seasons with the same group with two lights out playoff runs. One of the most underrated aspects of their staff is they simply don't miss stars (which is a huge attribute). I don't think they will be a statistical force this year (somewhere outside the top 5), but they are probably the most feared staff to play in postseason because of their dominant success there the last 2 times out

The Playoffs are where it counts................
David Price is better than Verlander. I don't believe Verlander is a top 5 pitcher. His postseason endeavors have been horrible.

How is Verlander not a top 5 pitcher? Based on what? 12 starts in the Postseason compared to his 135 over the past four seasons where he became arguably the best in the game? And no, Verlander is the better pitcher. Even this year he was.

And just to ask, who would be in your top 5?

    bahahha.

I'm sorry. Verlander isn't a top 5 pitcher because of a few bad innings in the post-season?

    Are you serious?

So because of 70.1IP he's not a top 5 pitcher even though the past four seasons he's been one of the best pitching 953.2IP? That's makes absolutely no sense. By your logic Barry Zito is one of the best pitchers now with his 2.83 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 6.9 K/9, and 3.4 BB/9 in the Postseason.

This is one time where I wish fadedmario wasn't banned.

So what about the first 3 games he had in the postseason of 2012 where he only gave up 2 runs total?

    BY YOUR LOGIC!

They weren't the World Series. Pitchers are defined by their World Series Endeavors. Think Palmer, Koufax, Pedro, Schilling, Johnson, Lincecum. If you are really good you can shut down elite lineups and outpitch the other pennant teams ace. Verlander is not close to that caliber.

So now you're narrowing it down to judging pitchers based on what they do in the World Series?

Also Randy Johnson has only pitched three times in the WS (two starts).

Yeah.... Why is that a bad thing? Your legacy is made in the World Series. Verlander can stat cram his regular seasons all he wants. Does that make him good when he busts in the World Series 3 times?

Yes, it is a bad thing. Why judge a player based on an extremely small sample size when they've proven they can pitch a high level over a much larger sample size? Comparing 15IP to 953.2IP? You're basing his success off 15 IP. That's ridiculous. It doesn't make sense. Your logic is backwards.
