How would teams in West do in the East?

I've been following both conferences and while there's been some commentary that the West is stronger than the East, I thought that the statistics might be interesting.

Western Conference Team record vs Eastern Opponents

    94-54 (.635)

So, out of conference the West is dominating the East. It got me to thinking. If you dropped OKC, SAS, Memphis or the Clippers into the East, I have little doubt any one of them would be a top 3 seed if not in the race for the top seed.

However, what about the other teams that round out the current top 10? How would they seed if you dropped them into the East by themselves?

Here are the out of conference records for the current top 10 seeds in BOTH conferences.

    OKC 3-0
    Clippers 8-4
    Memphis 8-2
    San Antonio 9-2
    Golden State 10-2
    Denver 4-6
    Utah 5-2
    Minnesota 6-6
    Houston 9-2
    Dallas 7-7

    New York 6-4
    Miami 8-3
    Atlanta 6-4
    Chicago 4-7
    Milwaukee 2-5
    Brooklyn 3-6
    Indiana 6-6
    Boston 5-3
    Philadelphia 5-4
    Orlando 7-4

So, if you dropped a SINGLE west team into the East, where do you think They would seed?

Throw Houston in the East and your looking at a possible top 4 seed, assuming they're healthy.

Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Colin Kaepernick walk into a bar... To watch Russell Wilson win the Super Bowl.

Denver becomes the 3 seed in the East.

while I do think the east is slowly catching up, its obvious the best GM's are out west. Pretty much any team out west could expect an extra 5-6 wins on their year end total by moving out east.

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

The East is terrible. If playoff seeding were to be based on team record, then I wouldn't be surprised to see only 3 Eastern Conference teams actually get in.

Western teams >>>>> Eastern teams. However East has Miami & NY.
Some western teams even (DEN, DAL, HOU) would have a WAY better record in the East if they didn't have to face the teams in the West so often. All teams from 5-9 would be 3rd seed in East IMO.

While I do agree the West is much better top to bottom. You gotta take into account the Bulls will look much different with a healthy Rose, Indy will look better with Granger and Philly will look better once Bynum is back.

The east is HORRIBLE! Theres about 4 good teams and thats about it. What ever the standings look now will pretty much be it... The west.... There's going to be excitement at the end of the season with teams fighting to get into the playoffs.
