I wouldn't mind going with proven veterans that want to play with Calvin at WR. Forget drafting the Titus Young's and Broyles of the world. Veterans looking to win and get the ball might come here at reduced prices.
Draft secondary; Oline and LBs. Apply the above theory to get defensive lineman. Vets on short contracts that want Suh and Fairley next to them.
I don't think our FO has the rocks to bring in proven guys to fill this thing out. They want everything to come from the draft but they keep getting snake bit by the picks they are making.
2014 Prediction Game Champion
We need a few vets with playoff experience & maybe Super Bowl experience to help prepare our guys for their deep playoff push next year!![]()

jake long, dwayne bowe, brent grimes, ryan clady please......oh there not free?
Ive been wanting to make a list of guys we "have to" resign and theres a high probability we sign and a good estimate of what there cap hit will be, and from that try to figure out if/how much cap room we will have... I know BJR said we had 65m accounted for but im curious to what that 65 will turn into once we resign some of our guys.

i think but i could be wrong.. Stafford was left out of that 65.. seems like someone listed the names the add there salary and Stafford wasn't one of them...
now that might not have been BJR and who ever it was might have just forgot to type there name..
so really the point of my rant is i haven't seen it broken down enough yet to say what we have or dont have

Yes, Stafford was included (as was Suh and CJ) There's a few guys missing, but none of them make more than 800k
So lets just factor in those guys (5M)
Brings us to 70M so ~122-70=52M
Chris Houston: 3 year 16M (little less than what Asante Samuel got last yr)
Louis Delmas: 4 year 16 M (similar to Adrian Wilson's contract last yr)
Justin Durant: 3 year 9 M (LBs surprisingly pretty cheap last yr. Erin Henderson only got 1 year 2M last year
SLH: 2 year 4M
Avril: 4 years 44M
so add those up and we have 5.33+4+3+2+11=25.33
which leaves us with 25M left to fill the roster. Guys like Levy and other backups (Lo Jack, Palmer etc) shouldn't be much.
We won't have money to be big spenders and Avril will probably have to go, but I don't think we're in that much trouble.
But best we can probably do is for a FA who makes less than 7 per year.
But does anyone think mayhew will pay a free agent?

He did get Tulloch and Durant before. I'd expect another couple signings similar to them (diff positions).
article today went on about Jason Fox and how he'll contribute next year so Cherilus is gone for sure. Reiff plugged in at RT and then Fox fills Reiff's role from this year, if Reiff or Backus go down, Reiff slides to LT, Fox at RT or just Fox at RT. Cherilus will get a decent payday from a team that wants a T. so one less FA to worry about.
