Cubs add Jensen Lewis to the Bullpen mix

Signed to minor league deal.. Only 28 years old and had a few very nice seasons with Cleveland.

I really like what HoyStein is doing so far this offseason.. Should be some great competition in ST for the pen.

They have also agreed to Minor League terms with Andrew Carpenter, a reliever who was most recently with the Phillies.

Brett and some of these blogs have been way late on the minor transactions. We had those two here on the 7th and the 10th.

EDIT: Brett's not late. You're just reading old news/posts.

Thanks, though. Seriously. It's great that we have so many people on here keeping an eye out for even the small signings.

LOL.. Yeah, I didn't even realize how old both those signings were. Appreciate the kind words though Yags- I'm always looking for news to keep everyone informed around here.

    Happy Holidays!

I missed this one I guess, but I like the idea of stock piling interesting arms on minor league deals and seeing who stands out in the Spring.

You bet. And happy holidays to you as well.

In case you or anyone else wants to bypass relying on some of the Cubs bloggers, there are two slightly more direct sources where you can get the information.

Baseball America posts weekly MiLB transactions for every team, usually on what seems to be the following Wednesday or Thursday.

Also, the Cubs maintain their own transaction page, which they update what seems retroactively, but is probably done only after a player has signed a contract, passed a physical, and the papers have been approved by the league.

These two, as far as I know, are what most other sites use as a reference.

IIRC his main pitch is a curveball. Not a big fastball guy.

Might have the first MLB.com picture I've ever noticed:

It's gonna be a completly new team, atleast if you look at the bullpen, and rotation. Now let's see if they can make any significant changes to the line-up.

His middle name is Daniel. He's a Day away from being a really good actor.

I don't think we really need a thread for every minor league deal.

It helps the old, "when the heck did we get this guy?" when someone comes out of nowhere and plays well enough to earn a roster spot out of ST. Considering most of our discussion is done inside a relatively few number of threads, these arent really clogging up the message board.

I have decided to let the new threads stand. Carry on.
To some, he was just a boy. A boy who played football, a football player that grew to be a man. A man that took over a city, a city that he made his own, a city that stands behind him in hopes of becoming one of that cities all-time greats. To some, 2013 was a fluke. To some, he can't do it again. To some, he got lucky.

To us though, to the Philly faithful, that QB is Nick Foles. To us, that's our QB.

In related news, another really bad team signed a no-namer castoff to a minor league deal.
