Does Rex need to be canned?

This guy is more and more delusional every week. He started off yesterday's postgame by saying the DEFENSE of all things could have been better and refused to put any blame on Mark about the five turnovers, even though Mark alone out of the 53 guys on the team, committed those turnovers.

He was on Michael Kay today and evaded every question Kay asked, literally sidestepping anything that was tough. Kay ripped him for it after he got off the air.

I'm honestly questioning whether Rex is a good coach. He baffles me, the way he acts, his stubbornness and his insistence to say every time the Jets perform poorly that they need to 'put the blame on him'.

No, Rex, you're not out there.

I think he's delusional, he's been even more delusional than normal this season and before while he could get away with it being to two AFC Title games, this year he can't. He's not real, like a Mike Woodson on the Knicks, doesn't hold his players accountable. D'Antoni similarly didn't, Woodson does and you see how well that works out for the Knicks.

In my opinion, he should be canned, him, Tannebaum and Sanchez.

You bring in a new coach, QB and GM, with a new culture and a still good defense (w/Revis), the Jets could make some noise with 10 wins next year.

I dont want to get rid of rex because he is a great defensive mind. I fear if he is fired, even with good players on d, the defense will suffer. What we need is a whole new offense, new qb , better skill players, and a strong oc that can operate without needing input from rex. Ideally rex could just be the defensive coordinator but that cant happen here. My fear is if he gets fired, his next job will be as a defensive coordinator somewhere else.

Dude, please stop with this. It will never happen. If he's not the HC, he is gone.

Rex doesn't need to be "canned" he needs to be demoted to DC and a real coach needs to be brought in so Rex can call the plays on defense and whoever we bring in can build the offense top to bottom along with the help from a new GM

Rex will not be demoted. If he's not the HC, he's not here. That's not my opinion. That's common sense. He's got a contract to be the HC, and the team has no legal right or precedent to demote him.

If you think he shouldn't be HC, then you think he should be fired.

This BULL **** about him getting demoted, or accepting a lower position with the team is (no offense intended) juvenile and ignorant.

Absolutely. We need someone who has an idea about how an offense is supposed to work.

Despite looking like an idiot with this quarterback scenario, I say a resounding no. This team isn't bad and Rex gets the true best out of a pretty suspect defense. Rex deserves a year without Mark for sure.

First of all somebody tell me when the last time you've seen a HC for 4 years be demoted to a coordinator role? So please stop acting like thats even an idea, it simple will not happen. Dont waste your time suggesting it.

I was on the fence with Rex for a while but hes really made it very hard to defend him. Just in terms of how he manages the active roster, his use of TOs the fact that our team can't grasp the most basic concepts and that we never seem to know what the gameplan is. Not to mention, were not going to be very good next year either. Well face the AFC North, and the NFC South. Its going to be rough for us. No point in delaying the inevitable. Just clean house and rebuild.

I'm voting yes - his ego is too big for this team and thats why GMAC or Tebow wasn't starting earlier this season. Use to love Rex, now I want him gone. He's horrible at drafting players too.

So your mad because he didn't kick Sanchez when he was down?

Way back in the stands, you can see my Wife holding my son on the ledge at his first Green and White scrimmage...circa 2013...aka "The Transformation" year into greatness! That's right Emryk...you saw the beginning stages of JETS Greatness first hand!

Agreed anyone who has managed in real life, a good manager does not blast their workers in public you do it behind closed doors away from the idiots in the media and moron fans. That offense as a whole is a terrible product and to make things worse nothing was done to help a struggling sanchez. Plus How many people work well in a team under pressure when you know no one has faith in you? Not making a excuse but hes still human. Still a die hard jets fan reguardless. Rex should get one more year to hopefully Draft offenese. Go jets

HELL NO!!! I've been a fan of the Jets since the day I started watching football, but if the Jets were to fire Rex Ryan after what he's been through with this team, I'd quit on the Jets. People act like we have a super bowl roster or something. Others don't seem to realize that these are all pro-football teams and someone has to win and someone has to lose. Coincidentally, the team that loses the turn over battle usually loses the game, and I think Mark Sanchez had 50 himself the last two years. That my friends is the difference between a PO team and a losing team.

How could anyone already forget the gems he has coached in the playoffs his first two years? Are you guys f-ing kidding me? Rex is a genius. He beat NE in Foxboro, with Mark Sanchez as his QB for Christ-sakes. All this talk about firing Rex Ryan is absurd. Get your heads out of your ***** if you think we'll be better off changing coaches right now.

I can understand what you're saying but I don't see it the same way. 1rst- don't let him draft anymore. Bring someone in to do that. Let him have input but don't let him have the final say.
2nd- he was that way with Sanchez because he's too loyal. That's a good thing usually but when a player or players underperform he needs to stop being a "players coach" and realize his team needs something else. He learned a valuable lesson with that this year. He was exposed and now has to adapt.
3rd- he has a big ego, yes but I think it's fair to say that this year he has shown a change in that style. Everyone needs to go through rough things to grow. This is it for him right now. He has to really do a check in with himself. Last season was the locker room, this season this.
Yes Sanchez was also an ego thing on his part. That's another element to change. He needs to see when he's wrong and do something about it.

Bottom line, in the last 4 years he's won more games than he's lost. Give him one more year.
