Yankees - No better than 3rd place

The current Yankees team will finish no better than 3rd place in the AL East. This Yankees team lost in the play-offs last year & now we lost some player to free agency & replaced them with nothing! Also - each player is a year older & will not perform as well as last year - except maybe Cano, Texeira & Sabathia.

The Yankees have done absolutely nothing to contend next season. We will see by the start of the season - If they do not make any trades - VERY LONG SEASON!

Why? Because they didn't sign Eric Chavez? What did you want?

    Rules of sports!

1.) They play the games for a reason
2.) You cannot win a championship during the offseason...
NOTE: I seem to remember prior to 2011 that the Phillies and Red Sox were annointed as the teams to beat... the Sox missed the playoffs entirely and the phils were eliminated in the LCS.

So, stop opening your mouth (or typing into the forum) and removing all doubt as to the level of intelligence that you do/don't have.

Until the end of Sept. next year, the Yankees are the defending AL East champs. They may not have the best offseason, but remember, the other teams started at bottom... they still have to catch up before they exceed, and until the games are played... they have proven nothing (well, other than they can make trades and spend money)....

This team feels so similar to the teams in the 80s and I'm not sure that I really blame it on the $189 mil cap in 2014 or all the bad contracts. I think its the lack of energy and quality players coming up through our farm system. The sad news is that I see it to be a prolonged period of mediocrity unless we trade our biggest chips for young players (Sabbathia, Cano, and Granderson).

    Here is what I think:

Boston will be a wreck as it was last year. 5th place.
Orioles will not be able to repeat last season's performance. 4th place.
Toronto has added some great (but fragile talent). They will be plagued by injuries. 3rd Place.
The Yankees and Rays will fight for 1st and 2nd place.
