As someone who is about a year younger than him:
this is not a big deal. not meant to demean homosexuals. Just a stupid part of our speech. Really shouldn't use it, but it is engrained into us we don't even think about it anymore.
Plus he deleted it when he realized that it could be perceived negatively. Just being immature. Not a big deal.

New York Giants- New York Mets- Arsenal FC- Duke Basketball- New York Knicks
So stupid, but so funny.
As for the tweet, he's a 20 year old kid. Yes, he plays profesisonal baseball, now for an organization in a major city, but he's twenty. My brother is 23 and jokes around like that all the time. Technically, yes, it's wrong, but nothing too big at all.

I hate it when they smear someone before I even get to know what they look like.
The smear has begun. Welcome to NY Syndergaard
At what point should an athlete or anyone for that matter be responsible for their actions then if this is not a big deal? You need to realize especially on Twitter once you hit send it's out there for everyone to see. And considering his name was just in a blockbuster trade, his name whereas might not have been known before and could have slipped through the cracks has been in every article or tv show talking about this trade. Just fitting that there is already a controversy surrounding a player who hasn't even got his minor league uniform number yet.
LOL welcome to NY kid.
Now the Zen master says, "We'll see."
Andy Martino @MartinoNYDN Noah Syndergaard opened the Mets conference call a few minutes ago by apologizing for the tweet that contained an anti-gay slur.
Wow. I'm disappointed. What a homo...
