It's true about what the article says. This is the worst season for this team in franchise history. And the sad truth was we all bought into the hype that this team was going to improve over the 5-11 season.

the offense has played well enough to win. the defense however something happened to it. whether it was missing Kampmans leadership, Daryl Smiths ability to lead and play well, etc....

The pass rush has been a huge reason why the defense is playing so bad. Once this team builds a strong one, the rest of the defense looks better.

13 pts. in the last 2 weeks. That is not well enough to win. The D comes down to D. Smith has been out all year along with the Mathis injury, after his last surgery he just isnt the same player therefore we dont have a CB opposite of Cox. Oh yeah and Genes inability to draft talent for even depth. The play calling for the defense sucks too.

if we werent with 2 wins MM would have kicked the FGs instead of going for it last game. thats 12 points right there not counting the TD whimper took away..... if the defense could figure out how to stop a team running the ball we would have won the game.

doesnt explain why we had a "top 10" defense last year

We average 15.6 pts a game last in the NFL. If you think that is well enough to win lol. We are 2nd to last in yds. per game with 284 yds. a game. That just isnt going to get it done. We need oline help bad.

You cant pin it on the defense or the offense. It falls on coaching and, most of all, Gene.

    Look at his drafts:

2009: OT Eugene Monroe, OT Eben Britton, DT Terrance Knighton, CB Derek Cox, WR/KR Mike Thomas, WR Jarett Dillard, TE Zach Miller, RB Rashad Jennings, WR Tiquan Underwood.

2010: DT Tyson Alualu, DT D'Anthony Smith, DE Larry Hart, DE Austen Lane, RB Deji Karim, KR Scotty McGee

2011: QB Blaine Gabbert, G Will Rackley. WR Cecil Shorts III, S Chris Prosinski, CB Rod Isaac

2012: WR Justin Blackmon, DE Andre Branch, P Bryan Anger, OLB Brandon Marshall, CB Mike Harris, DT Jeris Pendleton.

Leaving the 2012 class out, since they could still prove to be decent, who has he picked that is truly a "Good" Player?

Monroe, Cox, Alualu and Shorts? But truly, Shorts has been a one year wonder so far (truly believe in the guy just playing devils advocate), Cox is injured way too much, Alualu wasnt worth the 10th pick. So that leaves Monroe.

For a team that is supposed to build on the draft, potentially one good player each draft isnt going to replace players and build depth. Then we are stuck with the Larry Hart experiments or the Rod Issac safeties.

Gene has to go. The only way we make it back to a serviceable, competitive team.

    Look at his drafts:

2009: Ot eugene monroe(good), ot eben britton(good before he got injured last year), dt terrance knighton(good till that eye injury), cb derek cox(injury prone), wr/kr mike thomas(productive for 2 and a half years then after getting paid fell off), wr jarett dillard(injury prone), te zach mille(injury prone), rb rashad jennings(solid backup), wr tiquan underwood(couldnt catch).

2010: Dt tyson alualu(doesnt get much push), dt d'anthony smith(injury prone), de larry hart(got out of shape), de austen lane(quality backup), rb deji karim(crappy runner), kr scotty mcgee(crappy returner)

2011: Qb blaine gabbert(showed improvement but needs work still), g will rackley(played decently last year and injured all of this year) wr cecil shorts iii(really improved this year from stone hands to catch), s chris prosinski(decent backup), cb rod isaac(couldnt cover)

2012: Wr justin blackmon(best rookie numbers for us), de andre branch(needs to pass rush better), p bryan anger(top 5-10 punter), olb brandon marshall(terrible), cb mike harris(average corner), dt jeris pendleton(hasnt played much becuase of the amount of defenders ahead of him.
