My god that looks awful. I am a full supporter of the Span and Revere trades, but we are seriously going to miss having a good lead off hitter. I think we took that for granted the 5 years Span was here. As average of a player I feel he is, I think he was a great leadoff hitter.

I'll bet Gardy finds a spot at 2B or SS for Carroll and his superior OBP at the top of the lineup.

here's hoping Hicks fires out in spring training, starts at center sliding Mastroani to right........not that I don't like Parmalee, I just don't like him in the OF
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

I know it's winter leauge but I just looked at pitching stats.

Gibson 14 ER over 23.1 and 1.67 WHIP
Deduno 1 ER over 25.2 and 1.13 WHIP

    Is there hope for Sammy?

I'd like to hope so but I think it's a long shot. He's got nasty stuff and he's probabaly got the young winter-leaguers chasing his pitches out of the zone. Unfortunately, the major leaguers are more patient and keep the bat on their shoulder. It's the same reason why he had such impressive movement last year but still only managed a 6.5 K/9.

I am sure you are right about getting younger guys to chase pitches that are taken at the ML level. It sure would be a boost to our team if he could learn how to command the strike zone. I enjoy watching him pitch because of that nasty stuff but you never know what is going to happen when he takes the mound.
