ARod Might Miss Entire Season ?!

    SportsCenter‏@SportsCenter

BREAKING: Yankees GM Brian Cashman says Alex Rodriguez could miss entire season. -->

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yan...ht-miss-season

Yankees GM Brian Cashman did an interview on WFAN Friday during which he said there is "a chance" Alex Rodriguez could miss the entire 2013 season.

Just like he did on Jan. 8 in this ESPNNewYork.com story.

Almost three weeks ago, prior to A-Rod's hip surgery, in a blog item titled "Will we see A-Rod this year?" we asked Cashman if A-Rod could miss the whole season.

“There is always a chance,” Cashman said. “We are told he should be back. Is there a chance that things don’t go as well? There is always a chance. Until after surgery you won’t know. We have been told he will be back. There are always risks associated with surgery, regardless.”

Cashman has not changed his stance. The Yankees think (hope?) A-Rod will return after the All-Star break, but there are no guarantees. Internally, they have to believe whatever he provides is just a bonus after two major hip surgeries.

He was due out till August i think anyway..

Injuries at 36 years year old don't heel as quickly so of course it's a possibility especially if he has any setbacks.

If he doesn't play an inning this year he'll be a shoe in for 2013 MIP.

Why are you asking if the report clearly indicates Rodriguez stands a chance of missing the season?

Regardless of who the Yankees replace him with, this news instantly makes the Yankees better.

What's the track record if any of a position player at 36 missing a season then coming back? When he comes back I can't imagine him playing more than a 120 games a year even while playing mostly at DH. Yankees got shafted on another big contract.

Looking back now, I'm %100 thrilled we did not acquire him at the time, leaving us with option B... Manny Ramirez. And to think A-rod is still under contract for 5 more years at top dollar is absolutely absurd.

I'll give Theo Epstein a tip of the cap for the deal he 'never made' that otherwise would be busting Boston's balls for the immediate and extended future.
