If we can prove we can win with this team its going to be the same with the other prospects... they will be stuck in the minors until someone gets hurt. Or they will be traded too...
No, it most certainly is not. I don't understand why so many people have difficulty understanding that, as of now, J.P. is below-average for a major league starting catcher.

Mets fans seemed to be so much more well-mannered than Yankee fans haha. Cheers!

Arencibia might be offensive minded, but hes not even good offensively. At best he is mediocre. The worst part of the trade is losing d'Arnaud because i cant stand JPA behind the plate

Not trying to be rude but I really don't care about that. I don't plan to buy R.A. Dickey a beer and have a friendly chat with him anytime soon. I'm just excited to witness a more competitive team in the next couple of years with Dickey aboard.

I guess you guys are starting to finally warm up to this trade.

I mean, did you really think that your GM was gonna trade for Dickey without agreeing first to sign him to an extention?

3 years of Dickey at a reasonable price is worth a TDA lead package. Syndergaard makes the value a bit in favor for the Mets, but thats the price that Toronto had to pay with the market being in the Mets favor.

Hell, the Mets would have extended him for 2 years 25 mil if they were anywhere close to contention, but they aren't, so it made no sense.

Everything worked out the way it should have for both teams...with the Jays giving up a little bit more than the expected value due to the leverage the Mets had. Its that simple.

Glad you guys are all starting to come around to this, because I still love Dickey and Reyes...and I have always liked Toronto (I have visited there once...nice city...and I have a sick Blue Jays hat too lol).

Good luck with your new team. I'll be pulling for ya (unless we are playing against you).

Also, FYI...pitching in a dome with a controlled climate is probably the ideal place for Dickey to pitch. His Knuckleball will dance with the stars.

Thole is an ideal backup catcher for your team. He is decent at hitting vs. RHPs from an on-base perspective...he just has no power at all and can't touch LHPs to save his life.

He is slightly below average defensively too, but as mentioned above...he was the best at catching Dickey's Knuckleball out of anyone we used.

    Not all of us!

Generally speaking, no matter how objectionable something is to the Toronto fan base, they generally get over it really quickly once the media (employed by the same parent company as the franchise) has flooded them with propaganda.

The Travis Snider trade, for example, was very unfavorable. Within about 3 days of it most fans had heard the case for Brad Lincoln and were suddenly okay with it. Same story with losing out on Yu Darvish.

Yeah... we're all just blind sheep who will accept whatever the media feeds us. That's about right.

I like you Mets fans. Very civil.

Funny how a city with two teams can produce such different fans. Mets fans being very classy, and Yankees fans being the total opposite.

I'm just glad AA had the balls to make such a gutsy move. Love it.

Fair enough, but Dickey is awesome if thats any consolation to you.

Most of the "concerns" with regard to Dickey are going to be exposed as a grand, heaping pile of ********.

I don't know how his age will affect him when he approaches his mid-40s, but over the short term (and more importantly, the duration of his 3 year deal), he will be absolutely fine.

    Thats just my analysis.

I'm probably in the minority in thinking Yankee fans aren't too bad. Red Sox fans on the other hand...

Problem is and its a real problem -- you still have 3 guys projected in the lineup who couldn't get on base the past two years (JPA, Rasmus, Lind).

Lind needs to be replaced! JPA will be JPA, he will be a power guy in the 9 hole (fine). Rasmus is the dark horse...he could either really ignite (1st half) or be a bust (2nd half). Hopefully Mottola can fix Rasmus up!

Laroche would be ideal. Dont have to give up any prospect and get him for about $15 mil a year. Last big piece to add to the club...
