    trade question

i'm more of a football geek then baseball so maybe you guys can help me out with this being possible and whom you would target. Could we trade some of our depth in the minors for maybe some major league ready outfield prospect? for example a 3b prospect for someones OF prospect? we have wright for the long term and i thought i read in this forum about us having a few extra 3b prospects. or do these trades not happen?

These kinds of trades happen. You'd have to look for a team with a glut of outfielders. A name which has appeared often in these forums is Josh Reddick. He's only 25 and has already hit for power. I'm sure we could trade some pitching to the A's for Reddick.

I'd flip Syndegard and Flores for Reddick

That would get it done, but I would try to offer less to begin with. I'd like to see Syndergaard for a bit in the Mets farm to appraise his talent. But I would do Familia or Flores if that's what it took.

That would be a horrible trade. Reddick is not really very good.

Syndegard may have a high ceiling but Reddick is young, outstanding defensively, had a 4.8 WAR season, is under control, and has a lot of pop. Not to mention Flores has no position with us.

Well Reddick isn't terrible either. Last year he posted a line of: .242/.305/.463 with 32 home runs. He has pop and he's only 25. Dave Hudgens can work on his plate discipline. He's basically Ike Davis in right field.

Not to mention he had an 18.1 UZR.

He also plays in Oakland so I'm pretty sure his numbers in Citi can be duplicated.

By the time Wheeler, Tapia, Fulmer, etc all come up (2014/15) Reddick will be i his prime.

I agree, Reddick would be a good move.

It would make the most sense to trade for him either next year or 2014.

Eww.... Hell no! Sure Reddick has shown power but no way at the cost of a projected top of the rotation SP AND a good hitting 3B prospect. I wouldn't wanna do that at all. I'm not that big on Reddick. He's good but I think a package of Syndergaard and Flores should bring back someone better.

    There's always Justin Upton.
