Yeah.. we could give them Buck back for Stanton! WHAT ARE YOU STTTTTTTTTEW-PID SON!!! Just kidding, waterboy is one of my favorite movies! Stanton would be a pipe dream unless you wanted to give them Harvey and Wheeler! Even that might not be enough for him.
" You seek Yoda!
Stanton is livid over what has happened in the last year, but really doesn't have the leverage yet to demand a trade. It seems the Marlins really do not want to give him up yet. Young, cheap, and high talent, just the way the Marlins like their guys.
The Mets should wait to see how his situation plays out.
Outside of Niese, you're not getting any young proven commodities to build around. Keep in mind you're trading for a 24 y/o star w/ 3 years of team control, 24 y/o RF'ers who is a perennial 5 WAR player w/ untapped upside do not come along too often. Given the scarcity of Stanton's position and his age, it'd be like trading for a 23 y/o A-Rod or Griffey, so breaking the bank is a must to net him.
If Stanton was FA right now, he'd easily net 10 yrs/200 mil(especially when you throw in what Prince and Pujols got).

Best bet is to sign him in FA.

We don't even officially own Noah Syndergaard yet lol and we're already flipping him for Mike Stanton? You guys are hilarious
New Orleans Saints
LA Kings
Duke Blue Devils
Cleveland Cavs
NY Mets
THE WORLD IS YOURS CHICO! KENNY VACCARO BABY!
I'd rather not mortgage the farm. Maybe in a few years, when we have a ton of payroll flexibility.
As much as I like Stanton there is no way you give up all the previously mentioned players. We're going to actually need these players to pan out in order for us to be competitive.
The pipe dream is that Wheeler, Harvey, Syndegard, D'Arnaud all pan out and guys like Neise, Ike, Tejada all improve while guys like Wright stay healthy and productive. Then you dish out the big bucks for Stanton and another free agent or 2 and you've got a young talented team.
Lets cross our fingers and keep bringing in young talent because most of time they al don't pan out.
Well yeah Stanton is the kind of guy you move Wheeler for.
Not going to go crazy . I know it takes quality prospects to get Stanton but I'd give Flores , Nimmo, and others but not Wheeler or Harvey. It's easier to get a bat like Pujols or Josh Hamilton in free agency than it is to get an Ace. Cliff Lee and Cc come to mind but usually after their prime. Having all that hitting like the Yankees and the Rangers aren't guaranteed a World Series without good pitching. I'd loveeeee Stanton but not at the expense of over paying with pitching. I'd rather overpay with bats.
I'm not flipping Syndergaard or d"Arnaud, and I'm not trading Harvey or Wheeler. But it is hard to imagine that a package of
Familia-or-Mejia/Flores/Puello/Tapia/Aderlin/Lara
would not get any team's attention. Miami is not in a win now mode. In fact, they are not in a win anytime soon mode. So why wouldn't they consider trading a great ballplayer now (when they're not going anywhere) for a chance to have one or two outstanding players and a couple more quality regulars down the road, to help them get back into the picture?
