There is absolutely no way to definitively establish that the 80s sucked or did not suck, by virtue of personal taste alone, and so opinions will go back and forth to the entertainment or aggravation of those
involved, indefinitely. However, there are also other definitions of musical quality regarding the merit of a body of work (such as music made in the decade known as "The 80s") in comparison to the larger cumulative history of all the known music of humankind. Such a discussion is likely outside the realm of PSD, but would surely be interesting to read.

Which reminds me. I just read this book of Hemingway's short stories called "Men Without Women", partly cause there was a boxing story in there. Jeez his stories are depressing. I mean, well written as all getout, but his stories are hopeless enough to make you want to go kill your... oh. Wait. Wow. Yeah. Nevermind, not a good analogy. RIP, Ernest. I had to go listen to some Bill Hicks afterward, to restore myself to sanity!

I wasn't even alive in the 80s and I love most of the music (80s rock a lot moreso than pop). Of course, a lot of my favorites span more than one decade (ZZ Top, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Van Halen, Georgia Satellites), and some of it is more Southern Rock (GS). For me "Eliminator" is the pinnacle of 80s music, but I'm a ZZ fanatic.
