    Porcello Trade Thread

The Detroit News' Lynn Henning expects Rick Porcello to be traded following the re-signing of Anibal Sanchez.
Henning notes that Drew Smyly has the leg up on Porcello for the No. 5 starter job, and the Tigers "won't warehouse a starter in the minors." The 24-year-old right-hander projects to make between $4-5 million in arbitration this winter and is under team control through 2014. Porcello has reportedly received plenty of trade interest, mostly from National League clubs, though CBS Sports' Danny Knobler says the Rangers could be a possibility.

3 team trade where Texas ends up with Porcello and Upton, Detroit gets Andrus, and Arizona gets some prospects or something?

That's about the only trade I'd like to see. Wouldn't shock me to see Porcello and Boesch packaged together somewhere either.

I'd love to ship him to FL in a package for Stanton.

    Won't happen though.

Rockies or Pirates is the most likely destination.

I'd still really rather just keep Porcello AND Smyly, because I'm kind of greedy like that, and don't want to depend on Crosby if someone gets hurt.

oh yea, that trade seems likely to happen....

If he is traded, I wouldn't expect it to be a big time player unless the tigers also give up someone else.

I honestly believe they want Rondon to close. Hopefully Porcello gets traded for a MIF prospect that just needs a year in AAA for seasoning to take over for Peralta next year.

I'm sticking with Porcello to the Pirates for Hanrahan. There will be some minor leaguers involved as well from both sides.

Jim Bowden...Jerry Springer might as well have reported the the interest. Bowden blows. Not to mention his information sucks. I wouldn't bite on anything that guy says. He doesn't know spit. Bowden swallows.

    Porcello, Villarreal, Fields, PTBN

    for

Betencourt, Eric Young, and Trevor Story from Colorado

Then we also sign Diaz the Cuban SS. Betencourt becomes our closer this year with Rondon waiting in the wings next year. Young becomes our RH platoon and since he's a switch hitter can pinch hit anytime. Story is a top SS prospect. He and Diaz can battle it out for who stays at SS and who plays 2B next year.

I like Porcello for the back end of the Jays rotation, but I'm not sure if Toronto and Detroit match up. How about a three team swap between Toronto, Detroit and either Pittsburgh or the NYM.... Toronto gets Porcello, sends Arencibia to the third team and Detroit gets either Hanrahan from Pitt or Parnell from NY? Prospects might have to move around a bit to even it up.

I've been thinking about a Porcello to the Pirates trade as well. From what I hear you guys are looking for a closer, RH OF and defensive shortstop.

    So my idea is

Pirates Trade: Hanrahan, Tabata, Barmes, 2.5 million
Tigers Trade: Porcello, Boesch, Santiago, prospect (Jose Ortega looks up NH alley)

For the Pirates we get a starter who is under control for a few more seasons and some much needed bench help. Boesch would be a nice LH stick on the bench and Santiago a versatile and relatively inexpensive backup to one of our young untested shortstops. The money in the deal approximately evens out the salaries.

The way I see it Porcello > Hanrahan, Tabata > Boesch, Barmes = Santiago, 2.5 million = Ortega.
