god he is such a ****en idiot

"And if they get the star they expect with nine figures guaranteed, the Angels will walk into their first series against the Rangers with chests puffed and steps strutted. Even if they're not a better team than Texas, they'll try to act like it. That's what alpha dogs do, and if they're nothing else, these Angels are a pack of alphas."

" The Rangers – the better-run franchise, the smarter franchise but not the richer franchise – had been silenced, for a day at least, by a stack of bills $125 million high."

    stupid h8er

Torii Hunter suggested — rather strongly — that the Angels were less than truthful with him after the season.

The popular outfielder tweeted that the Angels told him they didn’t have the money to re-sign him at his price, and then they gave Josh Hamilton a five-year, $125-million deal.

“I was told money was tight but I guess the (sic) Arte had money hidden under a Mattress. Business is business but don’t lie,” he wrote via Twitter.

Angels owner Arte Moreno disputed that claim. He said he and Hunter have since exchanged text messages. Hunter eventually signed with Detroit for two years and $26 million.

“Basically, when we were talking to him, the real question was how many dollars we were going to pay him and what our budget was to pay him,” Moreno said. “We made a decision we were going to go with a younger outfield and go after relievers and pitchers. The Josh deal was completely a budget-buster.”

In other words, there’s a budget for a 37-year-old outfielder and then there’s a budget for a 31-year-old outfielder. Moreno had no intention of signing Hamilton until general manager Jerry Dipoto called the owner and asked about the possibility.

Moreno initially gave Dipoto a salary budget of roughly $140 million for 2013. The Angels now will come in closer to $160 million. Their 2012 payroll was $159 million.
    Dipoto strikes again?

wouldnt the fact that our payroll was going to go down after not making the playoffs mean that our owner had hamilton on back of his mind whole time?

How does the writer of this article make that statement based on the Moreno quote? A guess?
