I love Strange but he's a free agent at season's end and he never turned out to be the dominant starter that I had hoped for. He's not a bad pitcher at all but he can't give you more than 160 to 170 innings and with SP Steve Billings ready in AAA, Caleb can go.
I like C Derek Hughes a lot. He's ahead of the curb in his development for a 19 year old. I wanted to pick up another catching prospect this offseason in case C Andres Rivera turns to crap from his injury. Hughes's defense isn't great but he should be able to hit fairly well.
3B Melvin Riddle is major league ready now and could be my backup to 1B Paul McDonald and 3B Jeffrey Kennedy this year. If I can move McDonald, he and 1B Leo Kidney could platoon at first.
The draft pick will be in the bottom end of the draft but should at least net me an interesting relief prospect or so.
