this is becasue of all of the recent success of rokie QBs, I dont beleive football has changed that much that college QBs can consistantly do that. I mean, we did that a few years ago didnt we, and he isnt even on our team.
I know what you're getting at, but we took a guy that literally nobody in the league besides Martz had any interest in.
Fact is, the passing game has become so similar to the college style, that I definitely think its getting easier to find a franchise guy. Guys that we used to just say 'oh he's just a spread QB' - I think more and more they'll be able to make the transition.
No more rookie back up QBs as the primary back up. If you don't want to dedicate the cap space to a back up of Campbell's caliber, there are several decent veterans that would make more sense (like McNabb, for example ((though he wouldn't be my first or second choice, either)).
I don't know the Saints cap situation, but Bushrod could possibly be a cap casualty considering they just gave big contracts to Colston, Brees, and Jahri Evans over the last two off seasons. Graham is going to have a big extension after next season as well I believe if he isn't due for one this year. So they may cut bait with Bushrod, draft an OT and look to spend whatever remaining cap room they have on a CB. The Dolphins are indicating that they are willing to move on from Jake Long. I think under all circumstances the Bears *HAVE* to sign one of these guys (or Clady, if he isn't resigned for some reason) if they become available, above all else, including extending Cutler. I'd much rather draft a TE in the first or second round in addition to a second offensive lineman than go out and sign an over rated player like Finley or a super long in the tooth player like Schefter.

Now you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet: I will end you.
I hope they don't draft a lineman in the first round. By the time there pick rolls around this year, the elite tackles will already be gone, and will be stuck with guards. A position that can be filled in the later rounds.
