If Bynum's knees are degenerative, should we resign, trade, or let him walk?

His knees (in all likelihood) have a degenerative condition. Its not just a matter of pain or caution, its a problem that he will continue to face for the rest of his career (life).

The real question is what can be done to slow down the degeneration, if anything at all. That is the question the 76ers will have to weigh before resigning him

With that being said, do you still see him as a viable long term investment?

Couldnt this have gone in the bynum thread?

But to answr the question, it depends on how he plays if/when he does play

Its not a report. Its a question. If his knees are degenerative aka something that devolves into a Chris Webber situation, what would you do among the three options.

How does when and how he plays this year effect whether you would pay him long term? If plays great this year when he comes back, but you know his knees are going to get worse, you are going to base paying him on his past performances?

Resign him bigs of his caliber are just to rare. If he only gives us 2 or 3 healthy years those years are worth the 3 or 4 none healthy ones. With a healthy Bynum a team instantly becomes a threat and thats somthing we havent been in a long time.

Give him 50 mil per bad knee. That's what I'd.
Pay attention. You might learn something.

If we don't resign him we have 0% chance of winning the championship for the next 10 years.

If we do resign him we have about a 2% chance of winning it all in the next 10 years.

    I'll take the 2%

For those that don't want to resign him, are you thinking we are some how going to aquire some kind of Shaq/Duncan type big man in the near future? Or is it that you just don't really understand what's going on?

It's has to be either one or the other.

10 years is a little too dramatic, but i do agree with the core concept.

If we move jrich and/or hawes we could sign howard.
How bout that for a quick fix?

I hope Dwight doesn't sign back in LA, but he seems like he loves attention, and LA seems perfect for him

    Who knows whats gonna happen.

Hawes and jrich need to be traded for cap relief if bynum isnt gonna play here next season.
