You won't ever get that. I'll be happy if we are able to snag Brown but I doubt that ends up happening.

Am I the only one that finds it funny that we're getting very close to this team getting too left handed?

The times they are a-changin'. Next offseason will be the first for the Bears where a WR likely isn't on their list.

I'm not a fan of the never crowd to be honest. I'd like to hold this FO to the super high standard we were sold on being able to hold them to. I would like for them to deliver on that for once. Brown for Soriano straight up has it's appeal because we get rid of that dang old guy and his overbearing cost, but Brown has enough question marks where I don't see that being a truly fair price.

It's not thrilling, but I would be ok with it. Since we aren't competing this year, I really don't care that much about the money saved for 13. But saving $13 million for 2014 would definitely be nice. If they could work it out so we may more of his contract in 2013 and less in 2014 that would be even better. I'm not a fan of Brown, but I don't think you can expect to get much more in addition to that much salary relief.

Salary relief is somewhere around reason #30583208424 as to why the Cubs should be making a deal.

OTOH, I would not mind moving DeJesus and saving that 6.

For 2013, maybe. But it could be very important in 2014. You net the value of whatever you can spend $13 million on minus the value Soriano would have provided. After 2 years of decline from Soriano I would imagine you can get an extra win or 2 out of that money. That's significant.

The Cubs should not be thinking about salary relief at all right now. They are way under what their payroll should be which is why I'm disappointed they didn't add Greinke.

"Talked" is a lot different than "talking"
