or i would just flip Brown and Revere. i could be wrong but i thought i remembered Brown hitting pretty well out of the 2 spot last season.
Rollins is the lead-off guy as long as he's here. i really don't see that changing. he just prefers it, even though he's just not a lead-off guy, and he doesn't seem to bat well anywhere else because he's so hell-bent on being the lead-off guy.
realistically someone with the kind of speed revere has should be at the top as you suggested; i just don't see it happening.
all this being said, i think it's moot until we find out whether the Phils will be getting that corner OF they are coveting or not.
rollins
young
utley
howard
swisher, ross or other corner outfielder
ruiz
brown/ruff
revere
Well Charlie has already pretty much confirmed that Revere/Rollins will be 1/2. The lineup is also definitely going to have Young protect Howard since he's the only proven hitter we have behind the top 4.
It will look something like:
Revere
Rollins
Utley
Howard
Young
Brown
Ruf
Kratz
When Ruiz comes back:
Revere
Rollins
Utley
Howard
Young
Ruiz
Brown
Ruf
THANK YOU DANNY B #48
Also if we get Josh Hamilton, the lineup will probably be:
Revere
Rollins
Hamilton
Howard
Young
Utley
Ruiz
Brown
THANK YOU DANNY B #48
Here our my opinions, putting into consideration if the phillies acquire either Josh Hamilton or other corner outfielder. Also lineup without Ruiz due to suspension.
Without Ruiz,
Rollins
Young
Utley
Howard
Left fielder
Brown
Kratz
Revere
With Ruiz
Rollins
Young
Utley
Howard
Left fielder
Ruiz
Brown
Revere
With Hamilton, without Ruiz
Rollins
Utley
Hamilton
Howard
Young
Brown
Kratz
Revere
With Hamilton and Ruiz
Rollins
Utley
Hamilton
Howard
Ruiz
Young
Brown
Revere
No Change. Change
1.Revere. 1.Revere
2.Rollins. 2.Rollins
3.Utley. 3.Utley
4.Howard. 4.Howard
5.Young. 5.Hamilton
6.Ruf. 6.Young
7.Ruiz. 7.Ruiz
8.Brown. 8.Brown/Ruf

not enough Ruf in these lineups for my liking...any chance Revere moves to Right, Josh in Center, so Ruf can get on the field? Once in awhile? Or does signing Hamilton essentially mean he's playing LF and Ruf will be doomed to the Iron Pigs until we trade him to Houston?
There is no way Revere is taking over the lead off spot away from Rollins. But it that was to happened I don't see if hitting 2nd just because I don't see Rollins laying down the sacrifice bunt or drawing a walk.
If anything Rollins would probably hit 5th. But dot see that happening. He's the most effective leading off.
Don't see the Phillies settling both Ruf and Brown in the line-up, and platooning at that.
See Brown starting right fielder and Ruf back in triple AAA.
Lastly no way if the phillies do get Hamilton , that he's batting 5th , there's no doubt he would bat 3rd
April:
Revere CF
Rollins SS
Hamilton RF
Howard 1B
Young 3B
Utley 2B
Ruf/Brown LF
Ruiz/Kratz C
August:
Revere
Young
Hamilton
Howard
Ruf
Utley
Rollins
Ruiz
Because Ruf is gonna flip out.
I would do...
Rollins
Utley
Ruiz
Howard
Young
Brown/Mayberry
Ruf/Nix
Revere
P
For the 25 games Ruiz is out, Young can hit 3rd. I'd prefer not to leadoff with Rollins, but keeping the lineup balanced forces my hand.

For me personally, I don't think Ruf should be on the Phillies active roster let alone starting. I just don't think there is any way he sticks in the outfield at this point to warrant giving him a spot. He needs to play every day in LV to work on his defense, which he won't get at the majors.
I'm invested in Dom for one more season with him being healthy before giving away his spot to a guy most scouts say will not stick.
Ideal Lineup to start the season:
Revere
Utley/Rollins
Hamilton/Swish/Ross
Howard
Rollins/Utley
Young
Dom
Kratz

Just FYI to those lineup junkies trying to predict the Phillies opening day batting order with Josh Hamilton on the team.
There is ZERO chance Hamilton, Utley and Howard are batting next to each other facing a Left Handed Starting Pitcher.

all you guys that are putting Utley anywhere other than 3rd in the lineup....really?
he's as stubborn as anything when it comes to where he wants to bat in the order. what makes you think all of a sudden he'll be ok with moving down to 5th or 6th?
maybe, MAYBE he'd be ok batting 2nd. i just don't see it.
He'd have no problem batting 2nd....doubt he'd bat 5th or 6th...not even sure why you would want him there.
