    Osi Umenyiora

He's a UFA this upcoming off-season and he's got a history with Spagnuolo. What do you guys think? I know we won't be big spenders in free agency this year but I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of guys get cut. I'd love it, I think he'd bring something to the table that none of the other guys do. Albeit, he is old (31) but I think he could at least work in a rotation and come cheap. Maybe take a discount to play with his old D coordinator. Just a thought. Here are the rest of the guys set to become UFAs.

I'm saying he might take a cut to come play for Spagnuolo again. I don't think anyone will give him over 7M at his age

it would be lovely to get any of these guys but unless the Saints have some MAJOR organizational restructuring of the roster, its not going to happen. In fairness, such a move does have to happen sooner or later. We can't just sit on our hands with the same roster getting older and hope they come together for a Super Bowl. Change is hard in the NFL but its also necessary.

You guys still underestimate the power of the MOB Boss the Made Man Mick Loomis

Remember all the offseason signings we made how do yall think those deals were made?

I'll tell you how at gunpoint.

This is how it could go plain and simple.

Mick Loomis: Osi here sign this

    Osi: But it aint enough

    Mick Loomis: Make it enough

    ^^

I hope we could find a way to bring him in. Add a solid draft pick and find some bargains. This team has one more run in them, I feel it...

Yea man we got another run in this squad for sure Im thinking we may get better once we get a bit younger.

I think the RB can anchor the O as long as we shore up the OT and keep Brees playing well.

And I think the defense can form a younger faster unit anchored by the LBs and DLine going forward.

If we can get a skilled younger QB to groom behind Brees we'd be good to go going forward imo. Brees has the goods but he is expensive and one would think he would decline and his style of play needs to adjust more to the run game anyway which he may not be down with enough i dont know.

Plus if Payton left who knows next Coach may be all about D and run game.

Ok, these are some big salary numbers for 2013. This list was put up by Pat Yasinskas of ESPN. I think that all of these guys will either be restructured or cut.

    WR Marques Colston, $6.6 million
    G Jahri Evans, $9.8 million
    CB Jabari Greer, $5.4 million
    G Ben Grubbs, $7.3 million
    SS Roman Harper, $7.1 million
    OLB David Hawthorne, $4.8 million
    OLB Will Herring, $1.9 million
    MLB Curtis Lofton, $7.1 million
    WR Lance Moore, $4.7 million
    DE Will Smith, $14.5 million
    LB Jonathan Vilma, $8.6 million

Remember that even if a guy is cut, the Saints are still on the hook for his bonus (and it counts against the cap). If Smith is cut, the Saints still owe him $5.5M as his base salary is $9M. I think Vilma signs a new contract and takes long-term security over getting cut and hoping a team gives him a shot.

I think a lot of guys would take restructuring and be happy to convert base salary into a bonus (guaranteed money).
