Overpay on 1 year deals to vets so they don't have to go two years? This has been Cashman's main plan of attack in FA. So whats gonna happen next year when he can't do this because of the budget?

We lay out the welcome mat for the "Journeymen" of the league and some AAA fillers.

But seriously, I hope the stars can align to keep Heathcott healthy for all of 2013 so he at least has a chance to compete for a spot in spring training of 2014. ray:

    Via MLBTR:

THURSDAY, 3:16pm: The Yankees are resigned that it'll require a two-year deal to sign Ichiro, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports (on Twitter).

If it takes two years at around $6-8 million per, so would I. His type of skillset/production is not irreplaceable for his position.

I think it's time for the Yankees to check in on the asking prices of Willingham and Cuddyer.

I wish the yankees had 34 headers, then we'd be a shoe in for the WS.

Ichiro is not worth 2 years, they better not agree to that

ichiro, yankees deal will be for between $12-13M, still working on structure.

UGH. This pretty much puts a nail in the "2 year contract" coffin.

Can't say I'm happy about this at all unless Cashman has a significant trade in mind to change the context a little...or sign Swisher and make Ichiro an expensive 4th outfielder which will not happen.

I know people like to look at the half season he was here but this is his slash line the last two complete years -

    .277/.308/.361/.670

Eduardo Nunez does that. I'm not advocating Nunez for RF because I think thats a terrible line out of a RF. Just shows the production Ichiro has done for the last two years.
