Yup. If, say, they signed Anibal and Gomes instead of Guthrie and Santana, this move would be a lot more justified.

As much as everyone is saying it's a horrible trade for the Royals, Shields and Davis are helping the Royals NOW. I'm not saying the return, in the end, will be tremendous for TB but the Royals need SP and maybe the FO found that the trade was the best way to strengthen their rotation

Yeah Shields is a TORP type pitcher with 2 years left on his deal and Davis can be a solid SP given the opportunity in the Royals rotation.
They want to win now and we don't even know the rest of the pieces yet.

Well for now KC won it, until the prospects sent to Tampa prove something at the major league level. That being said, all signs point to Myers becoming a dangerous hitter, so he could turn this one in Tampa's favour for sure. Originally Posted by OaklandFan75

Damn was hoping the Sox were gonna pull off the trade for Myers. I really think he's gonna be a stud. But definitely not upset to see Shields leave the East lol guy killed us.

Not a chance in hell KC parted with both Myers and Starling. It'll be Myers+ Solid pitching spec + two lower level specs IMO. Can be broken down as Myers+low level spec for Shields and Pitching spec+low level spec for Davis. Originally Posted by joseph aka Jman
