Another Mariners Offseason Thread

Yeah most likely. I just think AL bench guys should be more versatile. He would have been a solid signing for a team that actually needed a DH platoon, or for an NL team as a pinch hitter.

But he doesnt fit very well as a 4th OF or anything on this team. With Smoak, Kendrys, Jaso and Montero, (and maybe a third catcher?) already on the team, we dont have an extra spot for a guy like him.

I just have to believe there is either gonna be a trade, or he will play OF.

As often as the bench gets used in the AL, u can get away with having him as a PH/DH/OF guy. It's not like its the NL where you're making double switches and what not. Plus, Eric wedge loves having different lineups every game so all these moves fit him perfectly. Lol. Honestly though, I agree, there's gotta be something else going on. If u plan on Saunders/Guti/Casper, wtf sense does Bay and Ibanez make?

All that guy could do was run. He was terrible at anything else.

Let's just chill. The clubhouse and lineup clearly was lacking veteran leadership and veteran bats to take the pressure off the young guys last season. Bay and Ibanez are about as professional as it gets and quality role models. My guess is Bay doesn't even make the team. The Mariners roster is better today than it was last season. We're gonna be alright.

I just think that $2.75M could have been used in a much better way. As of right now, he doesnt have a spot unless he takes ABs from Jaso, which he better not do.

I think they will for sure need to add an third catcher because Jaso and Montero are both way to valuable as pinch hitters to be unable to use them. Imagine ALL of Olivo's ABs are now going to those two. Such a fat addition by subtraction.

Yeah we're definitely better than we were. Weird ****ing moves though IMO.
