OK legitamately, what are our next moves. I agree, this kills our chances with Hamilton. I am now leaning towards Swisher and Bourn both being signed if at all possible. And prayng that MOntero and Akley both show up this season along with Smoak.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Mariners "may be amenable" to offering Josh Hamilton "five years, or perhaps even six."
Heyman does add that the chances they would offer a deal of such length is "fairly speculative" on his part, but he says the Mariners are "aggressively" pursuing the outfielder. Now that the Rangers have lost out on Zack Greinke, Seattle might have to offer Hamilton 5-6 years to pry him away from the Rangers. Texas is reportedly willing to go to four years with the 31-year-old.

I would be alright with a 5 year deal, 6 years I would be a little shaky about. But we need to get this guys under wraps. We should have offered 5 from the get go and we would have had him signed already! LOL---maybe.

As much as I agree with you about 5 and 6. I think we are in the unfortunate situation where we may have to go outside our comfort zone to get this things rolling a little.

I don't know. I still think he makes sense, but some guys in the main forum made some sense. We may not even win in the 4 years he is here. We don't know what we have yet. We may end up needing to replace 3 more spots and we won't be able to do that with Hamiltons contract.

4 or maybe 5 years? Yes. But I don't think he is worth overpaying for.

I can't imagine it would take 5 years.

No one needs offense more than we do, and even we think 5 years is a lot... I can't see a team out there willing to go there if we aren't.

Might bite us in the *** around year 3, but whatever. I don't think it'll be crippling.

I really want to see Felix extended here soon, however.

In OOTP, I extended him 8 years $192 Million. Massive deal.

It might be a good idea to consider signing Anibal Sanchez/Edwin Jackson and Nick Swisher over Hamilton, Bourn and someone like Liriano.
