Pretty impressive that the franchise bumped it's payroll up by 60 million since 2008. But my question is, from 2010 to 2011 the payroll went up 22 mil. Why is it only going up by 10 mil after this year's world series win? What makes this year different from 2010 to only raise it ~10 opposed to 20+?

Although I'm disappointed we didn't pursue swisher which would seriously make our lineup scary I'm alright with where the payroll is money wise. Next year with zito and lincecum and pence off that's about 37 mil? to fill 2 sp spots and possibly 2 outfield spots (maybe we bring them back) I like how we have a team that is built to win both now and going forward so as long as we lock up posey long term I'm alright with where everything stands. Would like to have some major league ready prospects ready to come up within the next year but at least we have young pieces already up and locked down.

Kind of a rambling thought but I'm kinda ****ed up right now

And you can add 3 sp with Vogey being off too but I'd bet we'd bring him back if he has another solid season although he might want to break the bank too for that last contract

Vogelsong has a club option that the team will surely pickup given the fact that Lincecum and Zito are off the books.

Where does everyone else see this team? Win now or both now and for the future? Obviously locking up a 1-2 in Cain bum and an mvp bat in posey is a great core going forward but makes things interesting with raises to come and impending free agents and how much $ even average players are commanding

I think we're in win now mode with a keen eye on the future. I don't like us staying pat but I do expect Belt to provide more thump next season and Crawford to be the player we saw in the second half. Last season's first half was an ugly one for Crawford. We have a good core to build around and will have a lot of money coming off the books after 2013 to build around that core.

We only signed 3 players and all 3 were on the team last year, only Pagan received a big increase in salary compared to not paying Ross, Derosa and Tejada over $18 mil

In fairness, you can pretty much guarantee they sold a ****ton more World Series **** in 2010 vs 2012. First championship in 50+ years compared to second in 3 years.
