Why are Angels fans trolling the Yankees board?
Anyways the Yankees screwed themselves on Ichiro.. Just a few weeks ago we could have got him at 1 year 5 mils. and now that the Phillies make an offer they HAVE to give him 2 years 12-13? Good job waiting.
We all thought Itchy should return, why didn't Cashman just get it done then? Horrible..

I haven't really looked at the CBA and the austerity budget all that closely.
Is it possible, that the Yankees are planning on the strict 189M budget this year rather than next year? If I understand the rules correctly, they only need to dip below that 189M mark for one season to avoid paying the hefty tax. The payroll currently sits somewhere around 180M at the moment, I believe.
...What a coordinated flop looks like...

I'd really hope Cashman is on the phone with Texas after the week the Ranges have had. While their front office doesn't seem like one to panic, I'd have to wonder if they might be feeling the heat to make some kind of move to keep the fan base happy. Perhaps the Yanks could sneak a few more prospects out of them for Grandy?
