This isn't as good an idea as it sounds on paper. Why, well because as a team we're not equipped to run an Air Coryell offense. We need new WRs anyways, but we'll need new QBs as well. Webb's arm might keep him around but I doubt it, Bethel-Thompson could stick because he can sling it, Ponder shouldn't even be on the roster if we're going for a deep-vertical pass game, he just doesn't fit that scheme. Also, for whoever we get, its absolutely vital that we get better guards. The pocket has to stay clean long enough for whoever it is to launch the ball.
There is some talk that the Chargers would dump Rivers as well, and a Turner/Rivers reunion would be nice and all, but they're not just going to ship him off for nothing. I wouldn't expect anything less than a 2nd round pick.
I'd be content with us staying with a west coast offense if we turf Musrgrave, mainly because there will be less personnel turnover and it will be easier to find players suited to that system.
