The Sox FO and ownership is invested in Farrell because they wanted him so badly, it would make them look stupid to chop him if we start 32-50 this year - in particular if injuries are playing a big part.

Farrell is excellent with the media, scouting, and coaching. He's more liable to be kicked upstairs if he doesn't manage well than actually getting fired.

Farrell's long term future has to do with the specs, but it is far from his only opportunity to make this job work.

Also if Napoli ends up signing, say goodbye to Swisher.
Bags give me a one good reason why i should give this team a break.

    1. they signed bad players to long term contracts to begin with. Beckett,Lackey, Dice K etc.

2.two when the players were performing badly and being club room cancers, they failed to address it until it was too late.

    3. They haven't made the playoffs in 4 seasons. Just because they shipped 250 million dollars worth of players, doesn't not give them a free pass or erase what they did in the past. Respect is earned not given. Until they make the playoffs, i will continue to criticize them. People in this town forget so easily sometimes. Not because its a new season, doesn't erase the past.

I'm not talling you to do anything, just explaining the way things are.

    1. they signed bad players to long term contracts to begin with. Beckett,Lackey, Dice K etc.
Yup, but the owners got mixed up in some of these, not just the FO. Still won us 2 WS in the last 8 years.

2.two when the players were performing badly and being club room cancers, they failed to address it until it was too late.
Sure, people don't like to change after success, what's the motivation to shake things up?

Actually 3 seasons. Nobody said it should erase things. Just make things better.

Do what you like. Plenty to criticize but it won't win or lose one game more.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

IBTL. Hamilton chased the years and he is going to regret it.It wouldn't surprise me if he relapses. La is vicious place to be for an alcoholic drug addict.

Well.....for 5 years they can have him. Give me Swisher and Ross but now we have to go against Seattle and Texas.

This move has got to make Trumbo a possible trade candidate. He's nothing special at 1B on defense, but he's a good hitter that could be great if he could get that K rate down, which may come with maturity.

I'd like to see the Sox kick the tires on him and see what it would take.
    Perfection.

Yah I'd regret making $125 million over the next 5 years too. It would be pretty tough trying to find the resources every day to put meat and potatoes on the table every night.

    Give your head a shake
