DA watched Tebow last year. I wonder - is it possible Pryor is terrible in practice, but the coaches think he might be better in game situations, ala Tebow? Pryor's real threat is when the play breaks down, something you just can't see in practice situations.
In the opposite direction, is it possible Pryor has made substantial progress at developing his skill-set? He has a quick release and an NFL arm -- the size / mobility / athleticism are just bonuses.
The "he's getting good" scenario is far more intriguing, IMO. RM / DA might want to see Pryor in game situations to make sure he is, in fact, capable of playing QB in the NFL - remember, this team is hurtling towards top-5, "QB's will be available" draft status.
Before Reggie passes up on Geno Smith, in essence, he wants to make sure he's got someone who can be a longer-term solution.
IDK, just throwing some ideas out there.
I'm looking forward to seeing if Pryor has gotten any better since the pre-season. Remember : Aaron Rodgers was an absolute mess in his first pre-season. Players need time to develop, in some cases.
