Red Sox to sign Koji Uehara

Free agent right-hander Koji Uehara spurned the Texas Rangers on Thursday and agreed to a one-year deal with Boston on Thursday. The contract is contingent on a Uehara passing a physical.

Uehara is the second member of this season’s Ranger team to join Boston as a free agent. Catcher – first baseman Mike Napoli also signed with the Red Sox as a free agent.

Also, it's a good strategy to always have a good amount of cap room so we can outbid anyone on 1 year deals.

Real solid get. 1 year deal. Grilli probably not on the table anymore.

Very nice. Can also be dealt at the deadline for a nice spec if we are really sucking it up.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”
