Phillies Acquire Ben Revere for Vance Worley and Trevor May

    Phillies Acquire Ben Revere
By Tim Dierkes [December 6 at 11:11am CST]
The Phillies acquired outfielder Ben Revere from the Twins, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. Pitcher Vance Worley is going to the Twins in the deal, tweets Danny Knobler of CBS Sports.

Revere, 24, hit .294/.333/.342 in 553 plate appearances for the Twins this year, stealing 40 bags in 49 tries. With just one year and 149 days of Major League service, Revere will not be arbitration eligible until 2014 at the earliest, and is under team control through 2017. He was a first-round pick of the Twins in 2007. He'd been penciled in to take over center field from Denard Span, who the Twins dealt to the Nationals less than a week ago.

i like Revere. don't like what we gave up.

greatest part about this deal is that he's a good player that won't cost much salary.

I actually like this move. I agree we gave up a bit much, but it frees up lots of cash for other areas. I feel nick swisher coming on

    Lightbulb

Amaro must have grabbed Revere off the waiver wire last season for his fantasy team.

Nice piece, but fear he'll be another Pierre type. We don't need any more #1-2-8 hitters on this team.

I loathe this trade. Revere for Worley and a lower end prospect maybe but wow.

I admit I dont know anything about this new guy but I DONT think we gave up too much really. I dont think Worley or May will ever be anything more than a #4 starter. This trade gives us a lot more flexability because he wont be getting paid much. I like the average and steals. Will he be our leadoff guy? I know Charlie LOVES J-Roll at the top of the order but will this guy make Charlie rethink that?

Really? Revere is 5 years younger than Bourn, 74 million dollars cheaper, and basically does everything that Bourn does. Worley is replaceable, and who knows if May will ever turn out to be anything good.
