Do have a soft spot for him, since I drafted him in the redraft a few years ago, and I think he does have some reward to him. So you know I'm happy, but don't think he's very much of anything outside of what he was signed for, a platoon role.

I like him as a replacement for Reed Johnson/possible midseason move. For the price, I think it's a smart buy, and he's the kind of guy with specialized skills (arm, RH hitting) that a contender could very well need at the deadline.

If I had to guess, I would say that the Cubs want to move Dejesus to LF, play Nate in RF, and move Soriano. They probably want Bourne in CF, but more likely Campana starts the year unless Jackson looks like a new man.

They would need to weakside platoon partners on the bench. Sappelt makes sense for one. Not sure about the other, but they are pretty easy to find. Especially the LF variety.

Of course, both Dejesus and Schierholtz are trade candidates come July. Along with 2/3 the opening day roster.

read a report on him that when he came up a giants prospect that he had 30+ homerun potential. doubt he reaches it but i'd be estatic with 15. hopefully this does happen and helps make up for theos stewart deal lol
