The interesting thing this year is that the stat WS/PER 48 minutes has only been done 8 times where a player finished .3000 or greater in WS/PER 48 minutes while a 30.00 PER or greater has been done 16 times.

    Currently speaking Lebron is at a 30.20 PER while CP3 is at a .3016 WS/PER 48 minutes and Durant at a .3010

    Thanks MJ-Bulls for the picture.

He's not playing better than the other top candidates, so to make up for that he's gotta see the team success.

Winning the East is certainly doable, however.
Yeah Melo cannot win MVP while LeBron and Durant exist.
As you said it would take winning our division and being a Top 2 seed in the East to even get legit consideration. This award is pretty much a lock for Durant imo though

I agree 100%. Granted, even if the Knicks can lock up the 2nd seed and get >52 wins this year, it'll be a drastic improvement from years past and he'll have to be considered one of the leading candidates.

But it's definitely going to take the Knicks locking up the top seed for him to actually win it. The numbers Durant and Lebron are putting up are just out of this world, and both of their teams are winning more than the Knicks. Melo can only make a strong claim for the award if the Knicks end up with the best record in the East. If they can pull that off and Melo can keep averages of over 29 ppg and 6.5 rbg on an efficient manner, he'll have a very convincing case to win the award.

    My order: Durant>Lebron>Paul>Melo.

Well yeah, HOF level scoring to be more precise. And he does also rebound as well as Marc Gasol and averages the same assist per game as J. Kidd. More minutes, but Kidd's still logging 30 a night. Point being, KD has become a much more involved and effective facilitator as well as a very good rebounder.

He also plays very solid D and is the driving force for the team with the best record in the NBA - 4 games better than Miami.

2nd in the league with a PER of 29.1
Leads the league in WS/48 with a .301 (which is on pace for better than all but 4 players in history. Those players being Wilt+Lebron 1 season, MJ and Kareem).
Leads the league in overall Win Shares at 10.0
    2nd in scoring at 29.3 ppg with a TS% of .653

Overall line of 29.3 ppg 7.5 rpg 4.2 apg 1.6 spg 1.3 bpg with percentages > 50/40/90 for the leagues best record

That's not only an MVP year, it's one of the elite MVP years.

Lebron is having an MVP year himself, but don't make yourself look like an idiot here.

correctly speaking his PER is now 30.31, Durants is 29.14, and CP3 is 26.63...on top of that, LBJ is playing two elite stars

Why would you want him to do that if you're trying to make a case FOR LeBron?
