@Alden_Gonzalez: #Angels have signed LH RP Sean Burnett to a 2-year deal with a club option, source said. Pending physical. @Alden_Gonzalez: Sean Burnett's deal, which is essentially done, is believed to be south of what Fujikawa signed for. #Angels. @Alden_Gonzalez: I'm told by a source that the signing of Burnett has "no effect" on their pursuit of a starting pitcher. Still not totally out on Greinke.
    Is that more or less?

    Hopefully it's no more than 2 years/8M

Wise move, Dipoto. I like this. Another middle relief LHP was needed, for sure. Maybe one more for the 'pen and at least one more SP?

Nevermind, the bullpen should be complete. Just get another SP, Jerry.

I still wouldn't mind signing Adams or Uehara or someone better than Downs/Jepsen

Especially if we are going the cheap starter route

Angels Close To Deal With LHP Sean Burnett

Yay!! I like the move. I thought the Dodgers would sign him after they lost Randy Choate.

The contract seems good also. I'm glad we didn't have to go to 3 yrs.

@MikeDiGiovanna: Can confirm Sean Burnett's two-year deal with option for third year, pending physical, with #Angels, who should have much better bullpen.

@JeffFletcherOCR: Sean Burnett is one of only 4 LH relievers to have an ERA under 4.00 and at least 50 IP each of the past four years. #Angels
Is Downs one of the four?

Edit: nope only 46 IP in 2009, 45 in 2012

Hardly no one was better than Downs for a year and a half. I dunno what happened last summer, but I sure hope it was temporary.

You gotta like these moves by Dipotos. So far we got a closer, good lefty reliever, and end of rotation guy with upside for cheap. Sign Geinke, and a solid 2nd/ss bench player for depth, then we are set.

As a disclaimer... I am of the belief that you need a solid 1-2 punch of Starting pitching to make any kind of noise in the playoffs.... thats why I am so addement that we need Greinke to sign.
