Blue Jays vs Yankees May 17-19

    Toronto Blue Jays

    VS

    New York Yankees

Friday, May 17, 7:05 PM EDT, Yankee Stadium

    vs
    Mark Buehrle..........Hiroki Kuroda
    1-2, 6.19 ERA.........5-2, 2.31 ERA

Buehrle is coming off his best start of the season as he allowed just one run over seven-plus innings of work vs. the Red Sox. It marked just the third time this season he allowed fewer than five runs and didn't allow a homer.

Kuroda said he didn't have his best stuff on May 12, but the Yanks liked the results as he limited the Royals to two runs in 7 2/3 innings. He has logged six straight quality starts dating to April 14.

Saturday, May 18, 1:05 PM EDT, Yankee Stadium

    vs
    Brandon Morrow..........David Phelps
    1-2, 4.69 ERA...........1-2, 4.33 ERA

Morrow was held back a few days to fully heal his back and neck issues, while getting a turn against a division rival. It'll be just shy of two weeks since Morrow last took the mound against Seattle, but he said he was good to pitch Wednesday.

Phelps pitched on the wrong end of a shutout his last time out, on May 13 in Cleveland, allowing a run in 6 2/3 innings. He is 2-1 with a 3.44 ERA in three starts this year.

Sunday, May 19, 1:05 PM EDT, Yankee Stadium

    vs
    R.A. Dickey......CC Sabathia
    3-5, 4.83 ERA.........4-3, 3.19 ERA

Dickey had his swing-and-miss stuff the last time on the mound against the Giants. The knuckleballer struck out 10 batters while scattering six hits and two walks. He allowed two earned runs while recording his team-leading sixth quality start.

Sabathia took a no-decision his last time out, allowing three runs (two earned) in 6 1/3 innings against the Mariners. He struck out a season-high 10 in that outing.

Well, my Jays are beginning to make me smile again. A good weekend will widen that smile into something approaching a cheesey grin...and then mebbys I can even dream again. I hope they knock the Yankees into the middle of next week...let's rock.

pitching-wise seems even with buerhle morrow against kuroda phelps then probably a tight pitcher duel between dickey sabathia

hitting is clearly heavy in jays favour. giants left wondering what just happened

how to blank melky, jbau, ee, jpa, lind, lawrie, derosa, even boni, Kawasaki is a daunting task

if red monster is not tall enough, skydome second deck not far enough, the yankee shallow porches are well within reasonable touching distance

jays offence is no royal powder, indian smoke, mariner tide, its real bird flu for their opponents

sweep since 2000 on the way

I like the Jays to take 2 of 3. Im still not convinced Bark has turned it around, but would love to be proven wrong. Just gotta keep the bats swinging and we will be in good shape though.

This should be a fun series, Yankee Stadium, weekend, Jays' top two going, Yankees' top two going. Just hope Buehrle keeps the ball in the yard.

I'm glad we used Ortiz on the Giants last night, lining Morrow up to go against NYY. Winnable series here. 2/3 against divisional foes will slowly help us gain some ground.

What's that, your 14th reference to science? Again, what the heck are you trying to say, broken record?

I hope the Jays win at least two...

Taking Jays 2 of 3. I like game 2 and 3. Not liking MB. That short porch, his fly balls will be gone balls. But I think the game will be a high scoring one.

Guys look like they are having alot of fun again, and we need to at least split most upcoming serie's and steadily get back to .500 and then start over!

The Jays are on the verge of beast mode. If they can win 2/3 I think they are officially in beast mode. Man, if they can crawl back to .500 by the All Star break I'd be super satisfied. Then, with Reyes, Perez et al back we might see some interesting ball in September. This girl's dream.

Cant afford to lose another series to the Yanks. I think we win games 1 and 2.
