Keppinger and Chavez off the board now, wake up cashmanThe Diamondbacks have agreed to terms on a contract with Eric Chavez, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (via Twitter).
Chavez, ranked 49th on MLBTR's Top 50 Free Agents list, excelled in his bench role last season, spelling both Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira while seeing some time as the Yankees' designated hitter. Chavez, who turns 35 this week, posted a slash line of .281/.348/.496 with 16 home runs in 313 plate appearances.
The Red Sox and Yankees were among the other teams that had interest in Chavez.

Good I guess depending on who they get. If they actually get a younger guy to be the new 3b, ok. But if they get another scrap heap pickup then hopefull y a wash.

regardless of being a fan of chavez or not, he hit .280 for us which is what we need more of, people that hit above .240...
as of now we dont have a 3B unless you count nunez, so it was a blow to us because options are going away and cash is standing still, unless he has plans we don't know about and told chavez we wouldnt sign him anyway
