Tom Cheek is getting into the Hall!

He won the Ford C. Frick award. It took a few years but it is well deserved!

The Ford C. Frick Award is going back to Canada.

Tom Cheek, the late and beloved Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster, will be honoured during the annual National Baseball Hall of Fame induction weekend ceremonies on July 27-28 in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Cheek, who called the first 4,306 regular-season games and 41 postseason games in Blue Jays history, will receive his award posthumously on July 27 during a ceremony at Doubleday Field, the Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, who's expected to be in Cooperstown to accept the award.

I ****ing miss him so damn much. Listening to him and Howarth on the radio on the drive home from wherever was always a joy. His voice was so perfect, and no where close to annoying.

I'm so happy this happened and I can't wait for them to honor him during the season.

Good for him, a shame they took so long to put him in. Also a shame we haven't had anyone even close since.

About time-why they didn't give it to him when he was sick is beyond me.

I too miss the old radio and TV guys. I don't get to hear and watch any many new games but, the ones I do are pretty average.

I never understood peoples hate for our current commentators until this year, I paid closer attention and understood why.

All our play by play guys for every Toronto team sucks except for hockey.

Dan Shulman's voice was the last guy we had that was good.

I like the CBC crew to but they didn't do any games this year. Rance Mullinks and Dave Winfield (I think?).. Those 2 were enjoyable to but Buck is starting to get annoying.

Ya there were 3 of them.
I think it was Elliot Friedman, Mullinks and Winfield IIRC. It's been like 2 years so im not 100% sure but i vaguely remember it.
