lol this is a pretty good point, i remember the dodgers signed Adam Jones and the giants went and signed rowand like a few days later, it seemed like a reaction move.

I didn't say these guys were going to for sure be a black hole and suck, it's just that considering their ages there is a lot that can go sideways.

not by a lot assuming the giants payroll is going to sit around 110mill, 17 million is 15% of that payroll, or about 1/7

I just mean 17 mil for your world champion 1-2 hitters isn't a whole lot

I've never seen a poster do as little research as Ciaban. I think he's wrong 90% of the time.

it's never been that high before, i don't think were going to see it there, the giants are loosing about 40 mill next year between zito and timmy, so they should have the flexability to sign or resign anyone this year or next year.

by that low do you mean 8 mill less, and by in years do you mean since 2010? while it's never been exactly 110 over the last 4 years here is what it is on opening day

    2012)118
    2011)117
    2010)98
    2009)83

here is a link you can check every year for like the last 25 years or so.

yeah but if they don't repeat their production you could be spending 17 mill on your 7-8 hitters.

I just think it's unlikely that pagan replicates that 5 war. or Suctaro continues hitting .400 in black and orange

The Giants spent 130 mil last year when you include Rowand. This year it'll be close to 140.

Your link clearly shows their payroll increasing every year. 110 mil hasn't been their budget for a while.

The payroll is going to be 140M+, Larry Baer has already confirmed it. Last year their payroll jumped into the 130s, maybe not on Opening Day, but it reached that high during the season.
