I hate when people say age is irrelevant for a knuckleballer.. He's 38, him being a knuckleballer doesn't make his body any younger. Have you ever tried throwing a knucleball? because it definitely takes some strain on your arm after a while. While yes, He could probably pitch another 2-3 maybe 4 years that would be the equivalent of getting something like a 35 year old pitcher. Which still doesn't make any sense..
