If Reynolds can hit .230 or better and walk 70-80 times, which he would certainly do in the 5 spot of our lineup, his OBP would be a very respectable .330 or better. People look at the average and the strikeouts, but people need to consider that he gets on base a lot because he walks a lot and has a TON of power. In his career he's struck out 32% of the time, but walked 12% of the time. 18% of his flyballs have been homeruns, and he flies out more than he grounds out. He's also not nearly as slow as Duda, Reynolds has stolen 24 bases in a season before, and he's only 29, same age as Wright. Reynolds also has abetter arm than Duda.
IDK why people are pissed about that, in an average season for Reynolds he's probably 10 times as valuable as Duda was to us last year.
Reynolds averages .0116 War/game, and about 1.7 War/season, including 2 season where he didn't play in a combined 78 games, while Duda averages -.16666667 war/seasons and -.002 War/game.
Reynolds is by no mean gonna be a good defensive outfielder, but in comparison to Duda he'll look like a gold glover with more speed and a better arm.
This signing would eb a no brainer.
