Well if we did sign him, he would feel he is able to play outfield.

So would Reynolds be in place of Duda or would we have a disaster outfield with Reynolds and Duda on the corners? Can the Mets find outfielders in which that is their natural position? Is it possible? Pass on B.J. Upton but contemplate signing a 200+ K a year strikeout king to play the outfield where he has played only twice in his major league career and pay him 7 million to do so? Have they been watching Moneyball and think Reynolds can be their version of Hatteberg in the outfield? Oy Vey

I don't think they would put Duda back in RF.

I think they would most likely deal him at that point because there is no way you could have an OF like that playing mostly everyday.

Can't we dig up Kevin McReynolds at age 53 to play left again?

This guy can't play the OF. Does this mean they have offers for Ike they are contemplating?

He's an upgrade from Duda in the OF and at the plate. Put him in the 5 spot and boom e have one of the more dangerous middle of the lineups in baseball.

If Reynolds can hit .230 or better and walk 70-80 times, which he would certainly do in the 5 spot of our lineup, his OBP would be a very respectable .330 or better. People look at the average and the strikeouts, but people need to consider that he gets on base a lot because he walks a lot and has a TON of power. In his career he's struck out 32% of the time, but walked 12% of the time. 18% of his flyballs have been homeruns, and he flies out more than he grounds out. He's also not nearly as slow as Duda, Reynolds has stolen 24 bases in a season before, and he's only 29, same age as Wright. Reynolds also has abetter arm than Duda.

IDK why people are pissed about that, in an average season for Reynolds he's probably 10 times as valuable as Duda was to us last year.

    Reynolds averages .0116 War/game, and about 1.7 War/season, including 2 season where he didn't play in a combined 78 games, while Duda averages -.16666667 war/seasons and -.002 War/game.

Reynolds is by no mean gonna be a good defensive outfielder, but in comparison to Duda he'll look like a gold glover with more speed and a better arm.

This signing would eb a no brainer.

All they're seeing is the homers, nevermind the runs he gives back with his poor defense and the AB's lost because he's strikeout prone.

Plus they ain't shelling out seven million for one player even if it's for just one season. Has anyone seen that the M's signed Bay? They have signed our crap over the last two years in Ollie & Bay.

The report of us thinking about signing him was the one and only time it was reported. So I think people can relax now.

The Mets were not serious candidates for even signing a guy like Mark Reynolds. Just expect a reliever or two and maybe a utility guy to be signed this winter along with whoever they get for Dickey.

Would you rather them be serious for Mark Reynolds?

We can't do anything right now until Zack Grienke signs. We could possibly move dickey to fill multiple holes without going the FA route. Grienke is holding up a lot of teams transactions at the moment.

Are we close to competing for a WS in 2013? If the answer is no, what's the point of spending 7mil for one yr on a .220 hitter for the chance he hits 30 homers? Everyone was saying Jason Bay was a lock for 20+ homers too... see how that turned out.

No but I don't see them getting serious about anybody in this weak free agent pool that is left. For the record I don't want Mark Reynolds. As for Grienke, everyone is being held hostage until he finally signs with the Dodgers.
