Mets considering signing Mark Reynolds for OF

Ken Davidoff of the New York Post says the Mets are contemplating signing Mark Reynolds to play the outfield.

However, Davidoff says his $7 million price tag may be too high.

Reynolds has played two games in the outfield in his Major League career.

In 135 games for the Orioles in 2012, Reynolds – who was non-tendered by Baltimore last week – hit .221 with 23 home runs and 69 RBI with 73 walks and 159 strikeouts in 135 games. He led the National League in strikeouts from 2008-2011 while with the Diamondbacks.

In his career at Citi Field, Reynolds has hit .281 with four home runs and seven RBI in 36 plate appearances.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says the Marlins have expressed interest in signing Reynolds, and the Orioles are still hopeful they can re-sign him, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.

Reynolds would be a defensive disaster out there. No thanks.

Nice. He's actually got a strong arm so he might work well out there.

He's got a lot of power, and was clutch for the O's. I wouldn't give him a ton though, I'd rather Ludwick.

    Love it.

Imagine a lineup if Sandy can pull off Dickey for Myers.

    CF - Kirk
    2B - Murphy
    3B - Wright
    LF - Reynolds
    1B - Davis
    RF - Myers
    C - Thole/Flowers
    SS - Tejada

    Santana
    Niese
    Harvey
    Gee
    Wheeler

Damn good transition year if you ask me.

There is no way they bring Shoppach back. They even said it on Mets Hotstove report on SNY!!! He was a terrible clubhouse guy and the Mets want NO part of him going forward!!!

Agreed, but how are we getting Flowers in this situation?

If Reynolds can hit 30 homers next year, no one will complain about his OF defense. I don't think he'll even be that bad out there, and he could spare Ike at 1B here and there.
