    Ya the Marlins raised the payroll 108% from 1996.

    The 2001 Dbacks opening day payroll was 81M. 8th highest.

    One thing you got to give Billy beane credit is he is able to determine devalued statistics and take advantage of it. back during money ball he took advantage in the lack of value for obp. Last season he was able to take advantage of a lack of value in hr's by signing yoenis cespedes to a nice contract. While he's always been Able to take advantage of the value of pitching. But I guess all that's a requirement when your a gm for a team that spends penny's like they took them from their fans piggy banks without their consent.
