i dont get this at all. i dont get what cherington and the sox are doing at all... they don't seem to realize that they WILL NOT WIN this year, mike napoli and shane victorino are not going to change that. They have a ton of money to work with after the dodger trade, it doesn't mean you spend it on players that aren't worth the contract. napoli isn't so bad, but this contract is god awful. a 32 year old outfielder who is declining in every aspect of his game, and your stuck with him now for three years. If the red sox truly want to win this year, they bite the bullet and sign hamilton for four years, all it would cost is one more year and about 10 million more dollars a year, which they could have easily afforded. I hate what they are doing- they shouldve just seen what they had in kalish, lavarnway, iglesias and their other prospects. this went from a terrible team to a mediocre team, they are still not a winning team. I could be wrong, im not a GM clearly, but this approach is utterly confusing to me.
