They will need more than "a bit" to make a move now. Think about their competition: Saban, Miles and Bielema (eventually) will play physical and try to wear opponents down with the ground game. If they can't stand up to that, it's an automatic 3 losses every year just in their own division. Then you add in A&M's Air Raid attack. Auburn will need a near-elite defense to become a threat again.

Not necessarily. A&M doesn't have an elite defense and had they managed a win over Florida, or LSU, they would have been in the SEC Championship game.

Well for one, the Aggies have a Heisman candidate under center. Auburn's O will improve but they can't just expect another Cam Newton to show up on campus right away and cover up the flaws. And second, A&M had the same number sacks as LSU and hovered in the Top 20-25 range in PPG Allowed for most of the season because they had a knack for making game-changing plays on defense -- you will recall one such instance in the closing moments of their win over Bama. A&M's defense this season was not the mediocre unit that it used to be.

These are the 2 people I was aware of for the DC job.

Malzahn made a move to put together his coaching staff today by interviewing Ellis Johnson for the defensive coordinator job.

Auburn has also reached out to former defensive line coach Tracy Rocker to return to his alma mater, according to people knowledgeable of the situation.

Eh, they need a major culture change. I saw where he apparently told them they could interview again once he had his coordinators in place.

I'd bring in Trooper Taylor in a heartbeat. He's as shady as they come, but he can recruit the **** out of the southeast.

Yeah its a positioning move he already knows which ones that he would want to keep this is just a move to make that he isn't just picking out certain guys.

He named his Offensive Coordinator as well it was the guy that was with him last year at Arkansas State, worked with him at Auburn and even played quarterback for him in high school.

Auburn just had a 5-star LB decommit because of Trooper Taylor and pretty much said that he will likely go where Trooper Taylor ends up.

You're talking about the LB Foster? He's been all over the place, committed to a few schools over the past few years. Don't know where Taylor will end up, but Grantham needs to close the deal on Foster.

Yeah the kid that got a Auburn tattoo on his arm and now is saying he may end up going somewhere else.

Charlie Harbison leaving Clemson for Auburn. He's very good friends with their new DC Ellis Johnson, was even the best man in his wedding. He's a good recruiter, but Clemson is not losing much in the coaching department. He has failed to develop 4-star talent across the board in the secondary, and it has really shown over the past two seasons.

Good hire. The coaching committee at Auburn came down to Malzahn and Kirby Smart and I suspect they went to Gus first because of his familiarity with them and with players. Ellis Johnson as defensive coordinator is a phenomenal hire for them.

    Cameron Jordan is awesome
