A's: Parker struck out four and walked none in six innings of two-run ball against the Rangers in his last outing to earn his ninth straight win and extend his unbeaten streak to 18 games -- the longest by an A's starter since Lefty Grove's 21 in 1931.Other guys: Hendriks couldn't build off his previous outing, as he struggled against the Astros on Wednesday, but wasn't helped by his defense, either. The right-hander surrendered five runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks over 4 1/3 innings.

A's: Gray allowed two earned runs (three total) in a career-high-tying eight innings but was saddled with his first career home loss in his last outing Thursday against the Astros. The rookie right-hander struck out seven and walked just one.Other guys: Pelfrey, who posted a 3.60 ERA in six August starts, couldn't replicate that success on Friday against the Blue Jays. The right-hander allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks over six innings with seven strikeouts.

A's: Griffin found his groove in the last two frames of his six-inning outing against the Astros on Friday after finishing the first three at 72 pitches. He struck out five of his final six batters to finish with a career-high-tying nine strikeouts.Other guys: Diamond is set to rejoin Minnesota's rotation, as the Twins will use six starters the rest of the way. Diamond pitched well at Triple-A Rochester after being optioned in early August, posting a 2.02 ERA in six starts.
