Can we please just give adams a try rather than spending 12 million for a half a season of this douche?

Nunez would be ok too if he can improve his defense. The guy can hit, he's a much better all around player than Gardner.

I have a feeling that Youkalis is going to turn out to be like the Nick Johnson signing. He'll be be injured most of the season. I guess Cashman wants to take a chance on him and hopes that he can be the old Youkalis, a legit #3/#4 hitter.

He's a better hitter, hits for better average, has more power.
Gardner is a better base runner, but Nunez is pretty good himself.
The problem with Nunez is that because of his defense he's not getting enough playing time.

Why the hell do people think so highly of Gardner??? he is terrible, he's fast and is a good outfielder, other than that he's garbage... Nunez is all around a way better player than Gardner just not defensively

    Yeah..your wrong.

    Gardner .266/.355 with a 91 OPS+
    Nunez .272/.318 with a 88 OPS+

Similar batting average with a higher OBP for Gardner.

Gardner also see's more pitches per plate appearance, steals more bases, and offers much better defense.

But your right Nunez is "all around way better player"

Nunez is 25 with an up side, Gardner is 29 and he's not gonna get any better, we will get nothing from this guy.. he's a defensive replacement and a pinch runner at best

Gardner is the fastest white man on the planet but can't hit the ball past the pitcher. Slappy McSlaperton.

Puppy is mentally ******** but I find him to have untapped potential.

I find both are young high energy players that this team needs now.

Who cares how many home runs Gardner has, he isn't a power hitter. Which is fine.

If you think he sucks, then Nunez sucks too. Nunez doesn't have better numbers; in fact, most of his numbers are worse then Gardner.

Again your basing your argument off home runs. And now RBI? Lead off hitters and 9 hole hitters aren't your RBI hitters, they are guys that get on base. Create a base steal threat, which Gardner does better in those two categories as well.

Having a sports debate is useless because you bring absolutely nothing to the table other then your hate for Brett Gardner which is making you biased.

Nunez has a whopping 5 home runs in 338 plate appearances
Gardner hit 7 home runs with 558 plate apperances.

So Nunez hardly has more power.

I love how the Yanks dont want to spend money but are willing to offer this bum 12 mil for one year. I know the one year is the only reason why but I would rather see Nunez play 3rd.
